I was introduced to Firefox a few years ago when someone walked me through the concept of add-ons. They intimidated me at first. Could I turn them off? (Yes!) Would they overtake other browser functions I liked? (No.) Once I got comfy with add-ons I couldn’t imagine using Firefox without them. I’m a big fan of quirkier add-ons that do things like track earthquakes or tell me when the moon will rise, as well as those that get a lot of attention, like AdBlock Plus, Sxipper and Personas, but today I’m talking about Xsticky.
Xsticky works like a favorite office supply—the sticky note. The only difference is how they’re used in a virtual world. Click on the pencil and tablet icon in the bottom of your browser, and leave a note on any open Web site. Navigate away from that site and the note stays put—just like it would if it was stuck to the top of a pile of papers. It’s always there when you come back. If I visit Yelp! to look for a restaurant, I can leave myself a note about what I found and come back to it days later. This add-on is great to begin with because it works just like something most people are familiar with. So get started, get organized and have fun with Xsticky.
