Screengrab

Save Web pages as image files on your desktop or as items on your clipboard. Capture what you see in a window, an entire Web page, or a frame. A great tool for referencing and talking about the Web.

Screenshots are the bread and butter of my work and life. All day long, I think and talk about Web pages—but I work at home. I can point someone to a Web page with a link, but how do I show them a specific section or bit of content? Easy: with a file I create using Screengrab.

The Screengrab icon lives in the bottom right of your browser and to me looks like a yellow square edged in blue. Sometimes I forget which is Screengrab and which is Xsticky, but it’s all good. Click the icon and “save” or “copy” the “complete page”, “visible portion”, “selection” or “window” to create your file or add an image to an open document.

Depending on how you use the Web, Screengrab can make life amazingly simpler.

If this had a entry on the right click context menu it might be worth it. It seems like it takes about as many steps as just hitting print screen, then pasting it in paintbrush. I guess I will try it, but without it being on the context menu I will probably forget that it is there. I already have more little boxes at the bottom of my screen than I want, or generally can remember what they are for.

Screengrab is exactly what I was looking for! Great! The save page as function (Ctrl+S) in Firefox loads in all kinds of files that anti-virus flags as adware, Etc., but Screengrab is a single photo, not a bunch of files in a folder and no adware files!
    REALLY GREAT!!!!!!

I’ve used this plug-in for a while and it is very useful… as a developer I take screen shots all the time when discussing things with colleagues via email. the save/copy selection is probably my most used function but the save full page/frame comes in very handy too.

    highly recommend to all…

This is the best add-on that was made.
It solve all my problems with creating images for my sites,
getting articles and all kind of content.
    Thank you very much Andy.

I think the FireShot addon is a lot better.

In the words of the developer:

“Unlike other extensions, this plugin provides a set of editing and annotation tools, which let users quickly modify web captures and insert text annotations and graphical annotations. Such functionality will be especially useful for web designers, testers and content reviewers.

    The captures can be:

    - uploaded to FREE public screenshot hosting
    - saved to disk (PNG, GIF, JPEG, BMP)
    - printed
    - copied to clipboard
    - e-mailed
    - sent to configurable external editor for further processing. “

The png files it creates cannot be opened with either Irfanview or FastStone (latest versions)
    32 bit

Win 7 can open them via its inbuilt browser.

The png files are not correctly generated, older screen capture programs like MWSnap (XP) can generate compatible png files.

Screengrab from Mozilla is important to me. I am a blogger. I down loads of pics and images a day. It’s going to be nice to just grab a file from the screen and save to file format to use on my social media sites.

I love this extension. I’ve been using this one since I found it. I tried FireShot for about 15 minutes, and went back to ScreenGrab. My wife uses SnagIt, so she tried to get me to use that, but for taking pictures of a site, this extension rocks.

Just installed it. I’m running OSX 10.6.4 with Firefox 3.6.6. For some reason, it doesn’t do just that one thing I wanted it for: capturing a full frame. Full page does work though. Suggestions anyone?
