2 Billion Firefox Add-on Downloads!

Thursday, Jul 1, 2010

Today marks a very special occasion in the world of Firefox Add-ons as we cross the 2 Billion download marker. We have a lot of people to thank for helping us reach this milestone: most of all, you!

This morning, we reached a huge milestone: we served our 2 billionth Firefox Add-on download from addons.mozilla.org!

This exciting feat was made possible by the huge community of people like you who use Firefox Add-ons as well as the thousands of developers who make the add-ons you use.

Over the years, we remained dedicated to building features and products that make Firefox the world’s most customizable Web browser for consumers and developers:

When we reached 1 billion Firefox Add-on downloads in November 2008, we thought it would take us less than 3 years to get to the next billion, and with your help, we’ve gotten to 2 billion in half that time! With more than 150 million add-ons in use every day, we know that the next billion add-on downloads will be here before we know it.

To celebrate this occasion, we asked you for your favorite add-ons and created a special collection we’re calling the Best of 2 Billion Firefox Add-ons. Check it out! We’re pretty sure you’ll find some add-ons that become an important part of making your journey through the Web easier, more productive or more fun.

Let us know what you think of the collection and thank you for your part in helping us reach 2 billion Firefox Add-on downloads!

    Dear Sirs,

You, OR SOMEBODY ELSE, have recently, carried out
a change, an ‘add on’, for me that I do NOT want. This has been to remove the line where the ‘http://’ current internet address appears from your displays and others’ displays.

**I WANT THIS LINE RESTORED FOR ME as soon as possible!! This will allow me to type in my own desired address and not go through an unnecessary and convoluted search with a search engine to hopefully reach it.

Yours, Bob Davies, dedicated, UP-TO-NOW, Firefox user.

      Hi Bob,

If you right-click your mouse on the area just below the title bar of your firefox window (title bar is where the names of the websites or pages you are visiting get displayed), you’ll get a context menu with a list of toolbars. Make sure you have “Navigation Toolbar” checked. I think that option might be unchecked, hence your issue…

Get the xmark’s plug-in to keep your bookmarks forever.
They are kept on a server under your own password and keep synchronized whenever you use them on other pc’s anywhere in the world or if you need to reload your system.
