Sxipper

Forget your passwords! Sxipper fills in forms and manages passwords and OpenIDs, accurately and securely.

Sxipper has been with me from the beginning. It’s hard enough to crank out an array of original, high-security passwords laced with numerals and characters, but then you have to remember them? Not anymore.

Usernames can vary too—from your email address (which one?!) to first name/last initial or first name only, and autogenerated choices like elise876. Yikes.

Sxipper is a secure and simple add-on that saves my username and password for any given site and remembers them the next time I visit. Even if that visit is months later. If I have two accounts for the same site, Sxipper prompts me with different possible usernames. I don’t even have to remember the first letter:

These days Firefox has Password Manager built in, and it covers some of the same bases as Sxipper. But Sxipper takes things a bit further, like helping you with forms. You create “personas” (not to be confused with the Personas we feature occasionally to dress up your Firefox) which include info like your name and address. Each Sxipper persona saves the name, address, phone, and other info you designate. Users might have a “business” and a “personal” persona, for example:

And you always have the option of choosing the “dummy” email for added privacy:

Some users may find the Password Manager that’s built into Firefox to be plenty, but give Sxipper a try and see if the extra help makes your life easier.

Sxipper is really the best time saver of all firefox addons!

It’s self learning abilities are really impressive which gets better with time. Even on this comment form, I pressed only one button and it filled all the required fields.

I don’t have to worry to remember any password now – Sxipper manages it all for me!

This is a good idea. Perfect if you only use FF (some sites require IE) on your own machine. There might be an option to use a secure portable or website key file, but that possibility is not mentioned.
For years, I’ve been using an encrypted text file on a RAMstick that I carry around with me. It is manual, in that I must always remember that one hidden filename & its decryption password, and to edit the file for every new account, & back it up occasionally (everything fails occasionally).

This looks pretty handy, but I think the “Last Pass” add on might be better…

Not perfect. Set up last night, and am still listing earthlink.com addresses I haven’t had since dial up days, and I’m pretty sure I un-checked that and a few other things that are cropping up up.
Jury is still out in how well it stores and handles passwords & usernames.

I would not recommend this password manager. I used the built in firefox one for awhile without problem but within several days of switching to Sxipper my e-mail was hacked. Just stick with the regular firefox password manager.
