Cleeki

Select Web text to search, share, publish and preview through multiple channels in one intuitive interface.

In the big, bad world of products there are agreed upon practices for naming. Poisonous snakes, wild cats with record-setting land speeds, and especially zippy hot rod cars are good authorities. Greek or Roman gods, obscure 80s song lyrics, and improbable phenomenon described by favorite sci-fi writers are all ways to go. First initials of founders’ names are an ace in the hole: LKEEJL. And when all else fails, try contracting features and benefits into a single word: FastTimeMakerEasyProGoQuickBlue™.

Even though we can’t be sure where the name Cleeki came from, we can be certain it helps you fact-find and figure out just about any other information on the Web. See a word, link or concept you don’t understand, highlight it and in a few clicks you can research, share or suss it out.

When you first install Cleeki, you’ll see an icon in the bottom, far right of your browser. It helps you set up and configure things:

Or you can ignore it and just start reading online content normally. Highlight text and some Cleeki features will appear:

Click and select channels and actions:

Click the down arrow on the channel menu to see more options:

Left click an option to preview the results right then and there:

You can share info from Cleeki:

Define search channels:

Theme it out in colors:

And take it to the limit with all sorts of settings you’ll just have to explore. Bottom line, Cleeki can find and move online info fast, and that’s always a nice benefit.

Thanks for promoting an addon that hasnt been updated in over a year, and is not compatible with FF4 (any of the betas).

I’m sure all the devs updating their addons for FF4 compatibility appreciate that…

      I hear you Markus,

Because Firefox 4 is still in beta, not all users, particularly the non-tech crowd, have adopted it. And many add-ons won’t update until after the beta stage. All the add-ons we review on Rock Your Firefox work in the current version of Firefox — 3.6.

One goal of Rock Your Firefox is to welcome less advanced users to the browser by highlighting the breadth of functionality of add-ons. That goal sometimes overrides valid practical concerns of tech-savvy users. (You might have noticed we don’t review add-ons that only a developer could use.) Ideally, keeping an eye on Rock Your Firefox will still introduce you to add-ons you wouldn’t have otherwise known about!

      Thanks for spreading Firefox-

I agree with Elise on this point that through Rock Your Firefox, I am getting to know the add-ons which I never knew existed.

Cleeki is one such sleek add-on. I just installed it and it is very good. I am not using a beta version just like majority of Firefox users and I think the developer of Cleeki will update it once FF4 leaves its beta. else no one would be using it.

The onr thing I hate about Firefox is the addons never work with the latest edition. Now I only use the addon that work in Minefield right now. I dropped FireFTP for this reason and I really liked that addon. The owner is too preoccupied with music to update this addon. And on and on…
