Feedly

See favorite sites, content, and news updates in a magazine-like start page.

From doctors’ offices to airport media stands, who doesn’t love flipping through a slick and savvy offering of magazines? They’re easy reads and have pretty pictures. Newsstands usually group them by topic, and basic visual cues guide you to your favorite features.

Online, the game can be pretty much the same, thanks to Feedly. Once you invest time to get the hang of it, you’ll have an inviting set-up and seamless integration with Google Reader, Twitter, Delicious, YouTube and more.

After you install Feedly, a green diamond appears in your navigation bar:

Click it to get to the start page. When you’ve set it up, it will look something like this:

To get set up, you need to sign into your Google account and go through a few steps. You’ll get a confirmation:

Get started by clicking “+ add” in the top right corner. Then you can enter terms into the search field and start curating your content:

Take a look at the content from your search results, and click “add” again to include a feed:

Click through a form, and you’ve subscribed!:

Once the feeds start flowing, you’ll want to organize your view, prioritize and rearrange. Check out your options by clicking on the pencil icon to the left of the search view:

You get lots of choices for how to manage your content visually and over time:

And you can get to more options and menus by clicking on the down arrow to the left of the “+add” button:

That menu can also move to the side and include categories you designate.

Even more than the average add-on, Feedly is brimming with potential for arranging, rearranging and customizing. The features and content build and layer and become highly unique to the user, so you should play around with them to find what’s right for you.

Or read some tips. Either way, get started with Feedly for enjoyable online media time.

      Hi Saman,

What happens when you try to install the add-on? Have you been able to install other add-ons?

      Hi Ann,

I’m sorry to hear that you’d like to delete your add-ons, but it’s actually pretty simple.
From your browser menu, go to Tools.
      Select “Add-ons”
A new window will open that lists all your current add-ons. Go down the list, and as you click on each individual add-on, two buttons will appear: “Disable” and “Uninstall”. Choose “disable” if you want the add-on to remain in the list, but not have functionality with your browser. You can return later and “enable” it. Choose “uninstall” to completely remove the add-on.
You’ll have to restart Firefox for your choices to take affect.

Very informative video and awe-inspiring concept: feedly.
As I write this comment, I’m not aware if you have a series of videos to help us implement and utilize all/most of the advantages of feedly.
