QuickDrag

Wednesday, Dec 1, 2010

Load URLs, search the Web or save an image as a file. Just highlight and drag.

Financial gurus and self-help supplicants crowd the airwaves with great advice to streamline your savings and cure your credit problems. Catchy slogans like “leave the latte” encourage you to finance retirement by forgoing a $3.00 cup of coffee.  Efforts like these seem small, but with some magical math, you see amazing results, like $720 extra per year.

The QuickDrag add-on is appreciated in the same way. Some extra clicking or typing doesn’t seem like a big deal, but when you’re online, that’s all you do. So it really adds up. Shave extra clicks off a repeated action and you’ll find yourself zipping along that much faster.

After you install QuickDrag, start using it right away. Highlight a word, and drag it just the tiniest bit. Let go and a tab opens up with the results of a Google search using your highlighted selection as the keyword:

Repeat the drill with a url, and the tab opens up to the address location:

Drag an image and it will be saved on your desktop as soon as you let go:

Pretty simple, huh? There’s no reason not to try out QuickDrag.

I personally prefer the ‘DragIt’ extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/dragit-formerly-drag-de-go/

It has the most features/customizability of any smart drag&drop extension.
