Printing straight from the Internet can be tricky business. When you try to print a single item from a page, there are always a myriad of other images, ads and words that come along with it. Since toner doesn’t fall off trees, some sites may offer a “print version” of a page, but generally even those leave something to be desired.
So what if you suddenly had control of the frame layout of a page and could delete anything you didn’t wish to print? Likewise, what if you could select a sole section you wanted to print and everything else would disappear? Both of these options (and more) are available to you with the Print Edit add-on.
Once installed, Print Edit is accessible in the File menu. Select it while on a page you want to print and the screen will refresh to display a number of option buttons at the top of your browser:
You can now click within the page, selecting sections you do or do not wish to print. Once selected, a section gets outlined by a blinking, broken, red line. You can even choose many sections at once. In this example, I have chosen to select sections of an article I would like to print:
Here is what happens once I choose “Delete Except” from the toolbar up top:
Not only am I left with the simple article, but now there are no unnecessary images, background colors, etc. — perfect for printing. With Print Edit you will be free to quickly print off content from the Internet without bleeding your printer dry.
